No wave that crashes, pushes and pulls across the water moves with the same pattern.   Nevertheless, the little girl in the turquoise two piece swim suit with pink and white polka-dot straps jumped into each wave no matter how big or small.  As one wave rolled in, she intently prepared herself by pinching her nose with two fingers, then she bent her knees, dug her feet into the wet sand, and without hesitation she leaped and rolled into the coolness of the water.  Yet, you saw no one else talking to her, encouraging her or even telling her to stop.  Furthermore, when she would see the end of a wave, she crotched down, laid back, and allowed the wave to cover her hair and skin.  Not only was she patient, but she was…very deliberate in what her purpose was each time a wave moved toward shore.

The waves in Virginia Beach

I sat in my beach chair wondering did she know how far she should enter the water to catch the next wave?  She never went over to play with the other children totting their boogie boards and sand buckets. Regardless,  my little beach friend laughed at herself when the water caught her off guard and flipped her over.  Yup…the water even had its moments when it would push her swim suit bottoms down showing the crack of her butt.  She didn’t CARE.  Nope, not one bit…instead she just readjusted and went back to waiting patiently for the next wave.

I thought to share this with you because like my little beach friend who didn’t worry about what others were doing or had to entertain them.  Instead, she was enjoying her moment in time at the beach in her way.  Ladies, this is how we need to be when going through our challenges.  Enjoy, have purpose, be patient, readjust and laugh at yourself when something is funny, but especially when life knocks you over. Get back up and jump in again.  Realize that anything, anyone, and even ourselves can become something that hurts us or causes us to be uncomfortable.  Understand that a challenge, is a challenge, no matter how big or small.

So, if you receive a phone call from a family member or friend telling you that your dream is foolish, just understand that not everyone is going to appreciate your vision.  Negative thinking should have no place in your life.  Jump in to each of your challenges with fervor and anticipation of greater.  God has equipped you to walk in your purpose.

Now, I dare to ask. How are you going to deal with your waves of life?  I myself will mirror my little beach friend…enthusiastic, anticipating, patient, not doubting God, fearless; and not caring what others think.
